Jimco is the largest off-road race car builder in the world. They have been building championship off-road racers for a number of years. Year after year, they are named the Top Chassis Builder by Score. Their exquisite attention to detail and excellent craftsmanship show in their Spec Trophy Truck. Jimco touts the Spec Trophy Truck as being at “the top of the food chain” among similar off-road racers, and they are quite correct in this regard.
Although this truck might have the words “Ford” on the front grille and have a custom Ford Raptor fibreglass body, it is nothing like a typical Ford truck. While this custom off-road vehicle is outfitted with a factory-spec Ford or Chevy V8 850 horsepower engine, that is where the similarities end.
Practically indestructible and super fast, the Spec Trophy Truck can handle just about anything thrown its way. With large 39-inch BFG racing tires and nearly two feet of wheel travel in the front and three in the back, the Spec Trophy Truck has no trouble speeding right over large obstacles.
The custom full-bypass suspension was designed to handle the inhospitable terrain, which is what makes this vehicle perfect for extreme desert races like the Baja 1000 and Dakar Rally. There is also a 6-piston braking system and Turbo 400 automatic transmission. The power rack and pinion steering provides outstanding control at high speeds. Because this off-road racer gets just three miles per gallon, Jimco added an 80-gallon fuel cell that extends the range to 200 or more miles.
Jimco occupies a special place in the off-road community. Their Spec Trophy Truck solidifies their position as one of the best off-road automakers in the world. We are confident that this formidable competitor would dominate any long-distance race no matter how tough the terrain.
