We Tried Virtual Paint and Sip, Here’s What Happened

With half of Australia being treated to a couple of months of lockdown, there’s a good chance you’ve been looking for a few ways to spice up your Friday and Saturday nights. Whether you’re looking to partake in a group activity, a spot of team building, or take the kids eyes off their iPads, Paint and Sip Studios has you covered with a number of virtual events to get your Bob Ross turned up to eleven. They even take care of the paints and materials! Too easy.

In a bid to do a little team and friendship building, a few of the team here at Man of Many put our creative skills to the test. With many of us qualified primary school art scholars (third in the Year 5 Archibald Prize, but who’s counting), we thought, who else better to pick up the brush?

Orders were placed, and kits were sent. In fact, the entire setup process couldn’t be easier and was a standout for us. Paint and Sip Studios will provide you with all painting supplies including the canvas, paints, easel, apron and brushes via contactless delivery. All you have to do is have some clean water on hand, a rag, and a computer to stream the event via Zoom.

For our event, the order of the day was a kayaker rowing towards a mountain. Challenging (for us), but with glasses full (of our favourite natural wine), and carefully explained detailed instruction from the professionals, we were good to go. Merely 10mins into our 1.5-hour class we were starting to get the hang of things. Although we highly recommend listening to all instructions if you’re wanting to make the most out of your artwork e.g. when your instructor requests that you use lots of water, they mean it!

So how did we go? Ahh, we sucked, in fact, we’re not even going to pain your eyes with a picture of our painting (it was nothing like the one pictured)! It’s almost cliche to say, but it’s truly not about the final outcome as much as it’s about taking the time out of your day. We couldn’t care less about the quality of the artwork because we had fun. In trying times like these, it’s all about the change of pace, and painting has this in droves.

Perfect for your work team, book club, family, or pretty much any other group you’re involved with! Check out the link below for more information, and book a class for yourself today. Your mind will thank you later, even if your art skills don’t. – from AU$75pp
