Beautiful Design in Book Form: Naoto Fukasawa’s Embodiment

Japan’s Naoto Fukasawa, one of the world’s most prominent product designers, has a new collection of his works out in stores. The monograph is called Embodiment, and aptly so, as it covers over 100 of his latest works.

Before starting his own design firm, Naoto Fukasawa Design Inc, this legendary designer worked for IDEO in the states. In addition to being famous for his innovative wall-mounted CD player, he has designed products for many other large names like Driade, Herman Miller, Alessi, Lamy, B&B Italia, and Issey Miyake.

This wealth of experience and Fukasawa’s simple, reserved, and ergonomically pleasing style is portrayed beautifully, in Embodiment. His signature aesthetic is on display in his book in the form of phones, watches, furniture, fashion, luggage, and dozens of other designs.

In a sentence; Embodiment places an innovative designer’s imagination in the lap of readers, and allows them a first-hand glimpse into his beautiful and unique mind.

Whether you’re a designer yourself, curious about an artist breaking onto the scene, or just looking for the perfect coffee-table book, this is the one for you.
