The Watch: Thoroughly Revised Keeps up with the Times

Back in October, 2006, author Gene Stone put together a “wish book”—The Watch. The book was billed as “a survey of the best vintage and contemporary men’s wristwatches that is as visually compelling as it is informative to read.” The Watch quickly became the most popular book on vintage and contemporary mechanical watches. Both beginning collectors and watch experts added the book to their libraries. Now, a decade later, Stone is revisiting the topic with The Watch: Thoroughly Revised.

In his new book, Stone joins forces with Stephen Pulvirent of to revamp the popular volume. The new edition is updated to more fully represent the current state of the world of timekeepers. New brands and models have been added. Traditional brand leaders, like Rolex, Patek, Philippe, Omega, and TAG Heuer, receive a more thorough coverage.

This could have been the ninth reprinting of the popular and best-selling book, but Stone and Pulvirent opted instead for a revision. “When I started working at Hodinkee, The Watch was the first book Ben Clymer told me to go buy to get myself up to speed,” explains Pulvirent. This new edition will be your go-to resource to better understand the world of watches.
