Dan Winters is one of the greatest illustrative portraitists of his generation. The man can take a picture to make it look like a painting. His book, Road to Seeing, is almost a personal journal of his journey into the internal process of photography and creativity and craft. It explores decades of life experience that made him into the person he is today. There are also some techniques but with such a great story and brilliant photographs it’s almost an afterthought. This is not a book to pick up if you only start with photography now but more something you absorb over time and in the end leaves you fulfilled and inspired.
