Neill Blomkamp, the South African filmmaker behind District 9, Elysium and Chappie, has partnered with EA and Bioware to direct a live-action trailer for the upcoming game Anthem.
Titled Conviction, the trailer sees Blomkamp brings the city of Fort Tarsis and the Javelin exosuits to life, which players will harness in-game to fight against the Dominion faction and its leader the Monitor.
“I was really blown away by this incredible world BioWare created the very first time I saw Anthem,” said Blomkamp.
“Conviction sets the stage with a narrative that touches on Anthem’s beautiful and immersive world, which is ripe for exploration by these powerful Javelins. A world where danger is lurking on every ledge and in each valley.”
Anthem is the latest game from Bioware, the studio behind the excellent Mass Effect and Dragon Age games.
In Anthem, team up with other players in cooperative adventures that reward both combined effort and individual skill. Each player’s choice of Javelin exosuit will shape their contribution and strategic role. As you explore, you will discover a story filled with unique and memorable characters.
Each Javelin suit and its accompanying gear can be extensively customised. As you rank up and defeat enemies, you’ll gather equipment and complete milestones that unlock personalisation options and turn your Javelins into testaments to your ability and achievement.
Anthem’s vast, ever-changing world features unpredictable conditions, hazards, and enemies. Over time, Anthem will develop and expand – introducing unique stories, challenges, and world-shaking events
Players can power up their exosuits when Anthem launches worldwide on February 22 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
From the early hands-on previews, Anthem could be summed up as Destiny with Iron Man suits. The game is a blast while playing with friends, although we’re unsure if solo adventures will find a rewarding experience.
