Although Sega left the video game business nearly twenty years ago, their games remain iconic. During the 1980s, Sega was the gaming system of choice for just about everybody. Its only serious rival was Nintendo. Those who grew up on Sega games still remember them fondly. Fortunately, they will now be able to play their favourites from this era on any mobile device thanks to the new Sega Forever collection. This is definitely a cause for celebration.
The Sega Forever is a free collection of nearly every classic Sega game ever made. Some of the best games include Sonic the Hedgehog, Altered Beast and Phantasy Star II. Games are available from all of Sega’s major consoles including the Dreamcast, Genesis and the Master System. The gamesa are adapted for mobile devices but stay true to the original game.
The site allows iOS and Android users free play, leaderboards and game saves. Currently there are five games on the site—Comix Zone, Kid Chameleon, Altered Beast, Phantasy Star II and everyone’s favourite Sonic the Hedgehog. Sega promises that new games will be added to the site every two weeks or so. There is also offline play, Bluetooth support and the ability to download new games and play offline. There will be a paid version of the app available that will be ad-free.
If you want to take a trip back in time to play your favourite childhood video game, Sega Forever is perfect for you. Even if you didn’t grow up with these games, you will no doubt enjoy playing the classics on your mobile device.
