Logic Defies Auction with Record Breaking US$220,000 Pokémon Card Bid

Some people’s luck defies logic. Coming off the back of his last album, No Pressure debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, the prolific rapper Logic has grabbed headlines all around the world of Pokémon with his record-breaking auction win for what is considered by most to be the greatest trading card of all time – a first edition holographic Charizard.

Setting a new record for how much someone is willing to pay for a shiny piece of cardboard, recently retired rapper Logic has won big at Iconic Auctions with his successful bid of USD$183,812.00 on a PSA 10 Base Set 1st Edition Charizard card. With the inclusion of a 20% buyers premium, it is now the card’s highest known sale. Notable for its rare lack of shadow on the artwork, it follows Logan Paul’s massive USD$216,000 purchase of a base set booster box.

Anyone else would call it day after dropping that amount of cash on just this one card, but with Logic obviously feeling No Pressure, he took things one step further by scoring a second Charizard from a Pokémon base set box he purchased for USD$26K at the auction. Posting the unboxing to scoial media, his luck defied all logic once again by adding a rare Raichu card to his winnings.

Taking to Instagram to share his passion for Pokémon cards, originally unable to afford them, the rapper recalls “even trying to trade food stamps for theirs, and now as an adult who has saved every penny he has made being able to enjoy something that I’ve loved since childhood now as a grown man is like buying back a piece of something I could never have, it’s not about the material it’s about the experience.
