A few nights ago, we attended an exclusive event at Throwback in Darlinghurst, to celebrate 2018 NBA Rookie of the Year, Aussie Ben Simmons earning a place on the cover of the upcoming game NBA 2K19.

Simmons graces the cover of the ANZ edition of the game, making him the first Australian to feature on the cover of an NBA 2K title. It’s seriously about time. And before now, a wasted marketing opportunity. We love to support our own on the global stage.

Following the reveal of the latest NBA 2K19 trailer which focuses on Ben’s journey to the NBA, Simmons took to the stage and discussed earning cover star status at just 22, along with his love of gaming.

“I’ve been playing NBA 2K for years, so making the cover for the Australian and New Zealand title is a real privilege, especially as NBA 2K is celebrating its 20th Anniversary,” said Simmons.

“I always loved being able to play the game, as greats like Kobe and Lebron are in NBA 2K, so it’s humbling to be recognised as an ambassador and role model for our local NBA 2K fans.”

We also scored an opportunity to play an early version of NBA 2K19 which launches in September. The game is shaping up nicely.

NBA 2K19 is developed by Visual Concepts, launching on September 11, 2018, for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.

NBA 2K19 will feature a double-sided inlay in Australia & New Zealand which displays Ben Simmons on one side and Giannis Antetokounmpo on the other.

If September 11 seems like an eternity away, you can get a head start on your basketball career by downloading NBA 2K19: The Prelude beginning on August 31.
Check it out

Have you subscribed to Man of Many?
