The Mario Kart series is about to get a major facelift as Nintendo finalises the development of a smartphone version of the popular racing game. Called “Mario Kart Tour,” Nintendo has announced that its newest mobile venture will be available mid this year. The game is expected to have a similar gameplay to its console-based predecessors and may also be made available on tablet devices.
While little information has been given about the specifics of Mario Kart Tour, we do know that it has been in the works for quite some time. Its first announcement was made back in January 2018 where it was scheduled for a March 31st release this year. However, as this date draws closer, Nintendo has decided to push it further back in favour of improving the game’s quality and application.
Hopefully these improvements will put Mario Kart Tour in the leagues of Nintendo’s other successful smartphone-based games such as Super Mario Run and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp; and out of the same ill-fated demise as the unpopular Miitomo app.
