Kanye West Officially Changes Name to ‘Ye’

I miss the old Kanye, straight from the ‘Go Kanye. The one that was actually still named Kanye. Rest in peace Kanye. Now, the artist formally named Kanye.

Today, a Los Angeles judge approved a petition by Kanye West to officially change his name to be known simply as “Ye,” with no middle or last name. Yep, just Ye.

The rapper, whose full name was Kanye Omari West, has long used “Ye” as a Twitter handle, Album title and nickname. Whilst this is by no means the weirdest thing for Ye to do this week, it’s still pretty strange even for him. Following the lead of other famous performers such as Madonna, Cher and Prince, from now, until the day he dies (or changes it to something else), we must now refer to the DONDA rapper as Ye.

At 44 years old, Ye’s still knows how to keep the scoop hungry journos on their toes. Wake Up Mr Ye, just doesn’t have quite the same ring to it.
