And so, vengeance is sought.
The first teaser trailer just dropped for Hunters – Amazon Prime Video’s new TV series produced by Jordan Peele and starring Al Pacino. Set in 1970s New York the series is driven by a gnarled Pacino, the head of a Nazi-hunting group tracking down fugitive party members who attempt to launch a Fourth Reich.
The trailer shows Pacino delivering a sermon to his riff-raff team of Nazi-hunters about the battle between good and evil. The team includes the likes of actors Logan Lerman, Jerrika Hinton, Josh Radnor, Kate Mulvany, Tiffany Boone, Greg Austin, Louis Ozawa Changchien, Carol Kane, Saul Rubinek, Dylan Baker and Lena Olin.
At 79 years of age, Pacino appears to assume more of a back-end kind of position in the team, sticking to portentous speech making more often than he does knives through hearts. “For eons, people like us have been degraded and exterminated, but no more. There is evil among us and you must remember, this evil starts with but a spot inside of them. Then it grows to a stain. Then it becomes a scourge. And we can’t know such evil until it strikes. So the time to act is now before everything we hold dear to us is destroyed. This is not murder. This is mitzvah. Welcome to the hunt.”
Hunters doesn’t have an exact release date but will air sometime in 2020 on Amazon Prime Video. With increased competition from new arrivals Apple+ and Disney+, Amazon will be hoping Pacino and Peele can fill a hole left by the loss of fan-favourite shows The Marvelous Mrs Maisel and Fleabag.
