The terrifying first trailer for FX’s hit anthology series American Horror Story season 10 has officially dropped and it might be creator Ryan Murphy’s creepiest yet. Sinister and unforgiving, the latest iteration of the award-winning series takes things in a bizarre new direction, splitting the series in half. The American Horror Story: Double Feature release date has also been confirmed with the FX series set to premiere on August 25.
The new trailer provides a bit more context for the first half of the season, which is set to be split into ‘two horrifying stories’. The first is titled Red Tide and features a host of water-based creatures that appear to be some kind of shark-like mutation.
This series will follow Harry Gardener (Finn Wittrock), a struggling writer who relocates to a beachfront town with his pregnant wife (Lily Rabe) to break through his creative block on a new book. While he manages to make progress on his story, the sinister residents of his newfound home swiftly reclaim their place in charge. Two locals, played by AHS favourites Frances Conroy and Evan Peters serve as Gardener’s inspiration, but it appears the new success may come at a cost.
“There’s nothing more addictive than success. You’ve tasted it now. You’re never going to be able to live without it,” Conroy’s character tells Wittrock, before pointing a gun at him.
The second half of American Horror Story: Double Feature is titled Death Valley and follows a 60s-inspired alien adventure. Not unlike the great mid-century horror classics, Double Feature follows the consistent theme of creatures, ghoulish and disturbed turning the screws on terror.
Slated to premiere on August 25, American Horror Story: Double Feature does bring some familiar faces back to the AHS fold, with Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Adina Porter and Angelica Ross all set to make an appearance. More important, long-awaited newcomers Macaulay Culkin, Kaia Gerber and Neal McDonough are also set to make their AHS debuts.
FX has confirmed that the American Horror Story: DOuble Feature release date is August 25, 2021.
