Best New Movie Trailers – January 2021
It’s official. We still have trailer fever. There’s no doubt about it. In a world where Apple TV+ & foot rubs are the new norm, and enticing us to go out and catch a flick is getting harder; a trailer can lead a film to global success or be the catalyst for missing its mark in the box office. As a result, we’ve seen an unprecedented effort put into the crafting of spine-tingling teasers and tantalising trailers.
But the fact remains – not all trailers are made equal.
Here at Man of Many, we know trailers, man. Whether it’s a big Monkey boi squaring off with a scaly titan in ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ or Nic Cage squaring off against hyper-violent animatronic mascots in ‘Willy’s Wonderland’ – if the trailer’s red-hot, we’ll have a gander and let you know about it. So without further ado, and to kick off the new year, here is a list of the Best New Movie Trailers that dropped in January 2021.

Godzilla vs. Kong Trailer #1
“Big Monke’ fight lizard boi. Bang boom. Boom bang. Good picture film, go see.” – Kong on his new movie during a recent Kimmel appearance.
What can we say? This film looks dope. There’s nothing but explosions, crashing buildings, a big monkeh’ boy and our favourite reptilian overlord, as far plot goes. Throw in Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown and Brian Tyree Henry, and you’ve got one helluva popcorn flick, with a solid cast behind it.
Cherry Official Trailer
As part of Tom Holland’s relentless campaign to be taken seriously as an actor, he has teamed up with the makers of such gems as ‘The iPhone’ & ‘The iPod Shuffle’ to star in ‘Cherry’ – the wild journey of a disenfranchised young army medic with PTSD who becomes addicted to opioids and starts robbing banks. So not quite what Mr Stark would have wanted for his favourite web-slinger. But great for us.
Willy’s Wonderland
“He’s not trapped in here with them, they’re trapped in here with him.”
‘Them’ being supernatural animatronic plush toys that like to properly murder folks. ‘He’ being Nicolas MOTHERF*CKIN Cage baby. The one, the only. The man. The actor whose mind simply cannot be predicted, nor understood in any way. ‘He’ plays a quiet loner who agrees to clean an abandoned family fun centre in exchange for car repairs. ‘He’ soon finds himself waging war against possessed animatronic mascots while trapped inside the decrepit Willy’s Wonderland. ‘He’, being this writer, who will be there on the day this comes out with movie tickets in hand and his mildly irritated girlfriend in tow.
Raya and the Last Dragon
If you’re in touch with your inner child, you might appreciate the odd Disney animated flick. Perhaps you’re guilty of throwing on ‘The Parent Trap’ in between episodes of ‘The Mandalorian’. If this sounds like you, or you have kids, then you now have a very good reason get psyched. Raya and the Last Dragon is an epic journey to the fantasy world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons once lived together long ago in harmony. Now, obviously less so. Starring Kelly Marie Tran as the voice of the intrepid warrior Raya; Awkwafina as the legendary dragon, Sisu; Gemma Chan as Raya’s nemesis, Namaari; Daniel Dae Kim as Raya’s visionary father, Benja; and Sandra Oh as Namaari’s powerful mother, Virana – this diverse cast is undoubtedly going to sparkle as we follow our young hero’s fight against evil.
I CARE A LOT Trailer
Written in all caps because a) this movie is about a deranged sociopath and b) it stars Rosamund Pike who plays an exceptional sociopath (ah-hem, Gone Girl). Clever, Netflix title person. Very clever. Pike plays a crooked legal guardian who drains the savings of her elderly wards, to some success – that is until she meets her match. Oh and, Peter Dinklage is in it and he has a sweet leather jacket. Oh and a man-bun, so, that’s pretty cool too.
Judas and the Black Messiah
With a massive hype train behind it, Judas and the Black Messiah tells the story of FBI informant William O’Neal (LaKeith Stanfield) as he infiltrates the Illinois Black Panther Party to keep tabs on their charismatic leader, Chairman Fred Hampton (Daniel Kaluuya). As Hampton’s political prowess grows just as he’s falling in love with fellow revolutionary Deborah Johnson (Dominique Fishback), a battle wages for O’Neal’s soul. Thematically evolved and meticulously acted, this is one not to miss.
The Courier Trailer
Perhaps one of the most British movies ever, The Courier follows British businessman Greville Wynne (played by Bendledack Cumperswizz) on his journey into a world of subterfuge – and mandatory afternoon tea. Recruited by MI6, Wynne works with Soviet spy Oleg Penkovsky to obtain intelligence on the Cuban Missile Crisis. Also. Benderdamp Fiddlesticks has a moustache.
Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar
The story of Barb and Star they leaving their small Midwestern town for the first time to go on vacation in Vista Del Mar, Florida, is as quirky as you’ve seen. The trailer is a hodgepodge of zany lines and film techniques, so one can only imagine what the film will be like. On their twisted journey, our off-beat protagonists find themselves tangled up in adventure, love, and a villain’s evil plot to kill literally everyone in town. Starring Kristen Stewart, Annie Mumolo, and Jamie Dornan. Wait. What? Jamie Dornan? The unfunniest man alive. Someone fire the casting director.
