Late last week we were treated to a brand-spankin’ new trailer for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming time-travel film Tenet. The trailer was originally planned to debut in cinemas with Nolan previously expressing his desire for previewing the film on the big screen. Unfortunately, coronavirus-related lockdown meant this couldn’t go ahead.
You won’t believe where the trailer debuted instead.
Tenet Fortnite Trailer
In collaboration with Epic Games, Warners Bros. decided to premiere the trailer on the virtual big screens within the popular game Fortnite. The trailer was broadcast at the top of every hour before becoming available on Youtube. You can check it out at the top of the page.
This isn’t the first time Fortnite has hosted a pop-culture spectacle. The battle royale once screened a never-before-seen clip of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the first episode of Chance the Rapper’s Punk’d reboot, and more recently, Travis Scott dropped a new song, and a one-of-a-kind performance called the ‘Astronomical Experience’.
The Fortnite Tenet reveal appears to have been a success, as it was later announced that one of Nolan’s iconic films would be screened in its entirety this summer (Australian winter) in game. There’s currently no word on which film it will be, but looking back at Nolan’s filmography, almost everything he’s directed is iconic.
Christopher Nolan’s Tenet Release Date
Tenet is still scheduled for release in cinemas across the globe on July 17, 2020. As cinemas are yet to reopen, this release date could potentially change.
There’s currently little known about Tenet other than a secret agent is tasked with preventing World War III and from the trailer, there’s some form of time travel involved. Tenet stars John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh.
