Here’s your first look at Robert Pattinson as The Batman. It’s a short but impactful look, setting a dark and menacing tone for the upcoming film. The brief camera test reveals the upper portion of Pattinson in the new batsuit, along with an interesting emblem on his chest and a jawline that’s surely resulting in many quality memes.
The red filter makes us wonder if the streets of Gotham will run red in The Batman and if Pattinson will player a darker version of the caped crusader than what has come before. It’s theorised on the internet that the bat symbol is made from the gun that killed Bruce Wayne’s parents, Martha and Thomas Wayne. If this turns out to be accurate, expect an emotionally-volatile Batman, one who’s possibly more grounded and relatable.
Arguably the highlight of the camera test is the accompanying score from Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino. It’s pretty fantastic! Giacchino even shared a rock cover on Twitter, performed by One Cool Squirrel. It’s also really good!
As promised, here’s the rock version of the new Batman theme, as pre-approved by @m_giacchino ! Hope you all enjoy. Also, there’s a surprise for ALL Batman fans at the VERY end ???? pic.twitter.com/sKXmF3irjw

There’s still a lot of unknowns surrounding the upcoming film, but this first look will hopefully silence any naysayers who look down on the former Twilight actor taking over as The Dark Knight.
The Batman is directed by Matt Reeves, who is best known as the man who made you feel for CGI apes in the recent Planet of The Apes trilogy.
The Batman has a stellar cast. It includes Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Andy Serkis as Alfred, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Paul Dano as The Riddler and Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordan.
The Batman is set for release next year – June 25, 2021.
