Bloody ‘Gen V’ Trailer Showcases the Savage Freshman Class of Godolkin University

The latest teaser trailer for Prime Video’sGen V, the first spinoff of The Boyssuperhero series, is a real eye-opener, showing just how messed up, gory and violent Vought International’s world can get. This upcoming series from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios follows the young adult superhero students at Godolkin University, who gained their powers from Compound V injections. All of them are vying for the top spot in the school’s competition, but as they delve deeper, they stumble upon some seriously dark secrets that Vought International, which runs the institute, has been keeping under wraps.

Right on the heels of revealing Gen V‘s release date, Prime Video dropped an exciting new teaser trailer where the “freshman class is savage this year.” It introduces us to all the major players of this college-set superhero series, while also setting up a mysterious threat within the campus. In the new trailer, Godolkin University becomes a hotbed of violence, terror, and bloodbath as Jaz Sinclair’s Marie Moreau and her classmates grapple with their powers while living the college life.

The Gen V trailer opens with a lecturer at Goldolkin University School of Crimefighting walking us through the illustrious history of the educational institution, revealing how the university has trained the world’s “best and brightest superheros since 1965,” offering them a “safe space” to unleash their potential and master their extraordinary abilities. However, as the trailer charges forward, it becomes quite apparent that this so-called “safe space” is anything but safe.

We get to see Jaz Sinclair’s Marie Moreau powers in action, who possesses telekinetic control over blood. With this power, she can turn it into weapons, like deadly whips or even, as some poor guy finds out, exploding… well, you know. Having grown up through supe foster care at Red River Institute, Marie arrives at Godolkin with hopes of becoming the first Black woman in the Seven. “You could become the first top-ranked freshman in history,” she’s told by the administration. “I think you meant to say the first Black woman in the Seven,” replies Sinclair’s Marie instantly.

However, it won’t be that easy as she later finds out that she has “a target” on her back. The trailer even shows us some of the other Goldolkin students and their supernatural skills, including Chance Perdomo’s Andre Anderson, who can manipulate metal with his mind and is seen as the number one-ranked supe at Godolkin. Other characters shown are Patrick Schwarzenegger’s Golden Boy, who can set his body on fire, Lizze Broadway as a size-shrinking supe and London Thor and Derek Luh both played by Jordan Li, a supe who can swap genders at will. When Perdomo’s Anderson invites Marie into his social circle and the life of drug-fueled partying that comes with it, she starts to realize what a dangerous situation she’s in.

“There are dangerous, evil people at that school,” the trailer warns, while Marie declares, “Everything is fucked!” It sure is. As per a new synopsis, these students are the first generation of superheroes to know that their powers come from Compound V, which their parents had injected into them as infants. “They quickly come to learn that ambition comes with sacrifice, and the difference between right and wrong is not as clear as they once believed,” the description reads. “When the university’s dark secrets come to light, the students must come to grips with what type of heroes they are going to become.”

Gen V hits Prime Video on September 29.
