The teaser kicks off with a pleasant family holiday vibe. However, heartwarming father-daughter time goes from wholesome to holy [email protected]# when a vicious lion goes on the attack during a routine safari guide. What follows is an action-packed scramble to escape the jaws of the predator, filled with several classic jumpscare moments 90s cinema buffs will appreciate. The entire clip is tense and fear-inducing, proving once again why family holidays are never a good idea.

Released in a press statement, the film synopsis reads: “Elba plays Dr. Nate Daniels, a recently widowed husband who returns to South Africa, where he first met his wife, on a long-planned trip with their daughters (Iyana Halley & Leah Sava Jefferies) to a game reserve managed by Martin Battles (Sharlto Copley), an old family friend and wildlife biologist. But what begins as a journey of healing jolts into a fearsome fight for survival when a lion, a survivor of blood-thirsty poachers who now sees all humans as the enemy, begins stalking them.”

At the helm is experiential filmmaker Baltasar Kormákur, the director of Everest, 2 Guns and Contraband. The movie is written by Ryan Engle (Rampage, Non-Stop) from an original story by Jaime Primak Sullivan. Beast is produced by Will Packer, the blockbuster producer of Girls Trip, the Ride Along franchise, alongside Jaime Primak Sullivan and Bernard Bellew.

Beast is scheduled to pounce on cinemas from August 19.
