It doesn’t come out until the end of the month but somehow Knives Out is gonna be so good that people and pundits just know. It’s already managed to score itself a cool 99% on Rotten Tomatoes.
If I was someone who spent their days publishing unsubstantiated reviews online (wait, maybe that’s what I’m doing right now…), I think I’d think that 99% is a fairly fair valuation of this movie. The trailer itself declares Knives Out to be “the most entertaining film of the year” – and to be honest, it does look pretty bloody entertaining.
The film follows Detective Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig, as he investigates the sudden death of a wealthy crime novelist. From there it descends into rib-tickling madness as Craig encounters and unveils the deceased novelist’s dysfunctional family, along with their web of upper-echelon lies and scandals. The flick is a tribute to Agatha Christies mid-20th century murder mystery classics, with a modern-day twist.
Along with Bond, James, it’ll include the likes of Chris Evans, Michael Shannon, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Lakeith Stanfield, Don Johnson, and Katherine Langford. All-star alert…
There’s only one bad part about the Knives Out trailer; and that is that it’s not in cinemas until 27 November 2019. Which, scientifically speaking, is too damn long.
