If the trailer for All the Money in the World, the newest film from Ridley Scott is anything to go by, it looks like there's another big cinematic hit coming our way later this year. The legendary director of Blade Runner, Alien and American Gangster (to name but a few) tells the epic story of the 1973 kidnapping of Joh Paul Getty III, the grandson of oil tycoon Jean Paul Getty, who was for a time the wealthiest man in the world. Set in Rome, the wealthy young Getty was grabbed and tossed into a van by kidnappers one night and held for a $17 million ransom, still a lot of money by today's standards but an exorbitant amount at the time.

With stars like Michelle Williams, Timothy Hutton and Mark Wahlberg leading the way, with Kevin Spacey (yikes, it will be interesting to see how his latest controversy effects the film's performance) in heavy prosthetic playing the aged Jean Paul Getty himself, the acting prowess looks top-notch. With the glitz of the lifestyle of the richest family in the world and the grime of a kidnapping that turns increasingly ugly, this film explores the family dynamic and examines the true power of money.

Look for it in December, and probably for some time after - there's already a lot of Oscars noise surrounding this flick and given the all-star cast, it'll surely make a dent come awards season.
Check it out
Have you subscribed to Man of Many?
