Ante up Star Wars fans. Disney+ has confirmed another animated series from Lucasfilm is on the way. Expected to drop in 2021, Star Wars: The Bad Batch is a new spin-off of the recently concluded The Clone Wars series.
Set in the immediate aftermath of the vicious Clone War, The Bad Batch follows an elite and experimental group of clones. This troupe must find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy, using their unique skills and genetically varied abilities to break the mould. According to Disney, each member of The Bad Batch possesses a singular exceptional skill which makes them extraordinarily effective as soldiers and a formidable crew. Using these skills, the team will take on daring mercenary missions as they struggle to stay afloat and find new purpose.
“Giving new and existing fans the final chapter of ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ has been our honour at Disney+, and we are overjoyed by the global response to this landmark series,” Agnes Chu, senior vice president, Content, Disney+ said. “While the Clone Wars may have come to its conclusion, our partnership with the groundbreaking storytellers and artists at Lucasfilm Animation is only beginning. We are thrilled to bring Dave Filoni’s vision to life through the next adventures of the Bad Batch.”
Like The Clone Wars, Rebels and the live-action hit The Mandalorian, the new Star Wars instalment will be executive produced by Dave Filoni. Over the years, Filoni has become an integral part of the Star Wars universe, in particular when it comes to TV. Star Wars: The Bad Batch will premiere on Disney+ in 2021.
