It will be a two-day event, but during those 48 hours, some of the rarest and most iconic pieces of movie memorabilia will be auctioned off. The event is the Prop Store’s annual live auction, which is now in its sixth year. The event will be held at London’s BFI IMAX in London’s Waterloo and will feature items that are expected to raise somewhere over $7.5 million.
The auction will cover a wide range of memorabilia, with items from multi-million and multi-billion dollar franchises like James Bond, Indiana Jones, and Terminator. The Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as the X-Men franchises are also represented. Some of the items expected to go for the highest amount include Russell Crowe’s armor from Gladiator, which should fetch somewhere between $36,450 and $60,700. The ax wielded by Jack Torrance, played by Jack Nicholson in The Shining, is expected to bring in somewhere north of $48,600. William Wallace’s claymore from Braveheart is listed at between $36,450 and $60,750. Star Wars fans will have the opportunity to grab Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber from Star Wars: A New Hope, or Mace Windu’s lightsaber from Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. The Batsuit and Jack Nicholson’s Joker costume from Tim Burton’s Batman are also on the block. The items also include the facehugger from Alien, and the ghost trap from the original Ghostbusters. Freddy Kruger’s glove from Freddy Vs. Jason will be sold off as well as Helen Mirren’s breastplate from Excalibur. There are many, many more items included in the sale. Bids can be submitted throughout September, with the live auction starting on Monday, September 30, 2019, and going through Tuesday, October 1, 2019. The live auction will be streamed for those who would like to watch the bidding.
