When great movie franchises get rebooted, it’s not uncommon to see the original cast-members make a brief, fleeting appearance. While usually reserved for a nostalgic audience reaction, the addition rarely adds to the storyline, however, actor Sam Neill has confirmed his reprisal in the newest Jurassic Park film will be anything but brief. The Aussie legend has confirmed that himself, along with original cast-members Laura Dern and everyone’s favourite weird uncle, Jeff Goldblum will play a major role in the recently announced Jurassic World: Dominion film.
In an interview with Yahoo, Neill revealed that all three actors will feature prominently throughout the film.”We’re all the way through the film, Jeff , and me, and Laura .” However, he also noted that he ‘probably won’t be running quite as fast as he did 27 years ago’.
According to the 72-year old actor, he, along with the entire cast are currently in quarantine preparing for the return to filming on July 6. “We’re all going to be living in the same joint for three or four months, so that’s going to be fun. And everybody loves Chris (Pratt) and Bryce (Dallas Howard) as well, so I think we’ll be a very happy bunch.”
Neill most recently portrayed the iconic role of Dr Alan Grant back in 2001’s Jurrasic Park III, with fans eager to see the iconic character back in action. For Goldblum, however, the announcement follows a previous cameo in Fallen Kingdom. In the lead-up to the release, Goldblum’s fan-favourite character Dr Ian Malcolm was plugged as a major part of the 2018 film, only to score around 60 seconds worth of screen time. The disappointment was hard to mask, prompting fans to demand Goldblum get another run in the next instalment.
Looks like life…uh, found a way.
