LeBron James Officially Joins the Tune Squad in ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’ Trailer
It’s been a long wait for movie fans, but the first Space Jam: A New Legacy trailer has finally been unveiled. The follow-up to the hit 1996 film starring NBA legend Michael Jordan, this latest instalment pairs basketball superstar LeBron James with the ragtag team of Looney Tunes we’ve come to love. And while Lola Bunny has ‘controversially’ gotten a downgrade, the rest of the film looks like a slam dunk.

The Space Jam: A New Legacy trailer gives us a first look at James in action, along with just how the movie will look. The Warner Bros. film maintains the same blend of real, live-action sports stars with the studio’s famous Looney Tunes characters, however, this variation takes the technology and builds on it. In the film, we see James, starring as himself, and his son get stuck inside a villainous A.I. (played by Marvel’s Don Cheadle) where he is forced to team up with the animated favourites for a historic basketball game to escape.
While your old favourites are all here, the exciting part is the addition of other classic characters. In the trailer we see the Iron Giant, the Flinstones, King Kong and many more. According to the official synopsis, “LeBron must get them home safe by leading Bugs, Lola Bunny and the whole gang of notoriously undisciplined Looney Tunes to victory over the A.I.’s digitised champions on the court: a powered-up roster of professional basketball stars as you’ve never seen them before”. Space Jam: A New Legacy is directed by Malcolm D. Lee, alongside Black Panther’s Ryan Coogler and Maverick Carter. The new film is set to open in theatres and HBO Max on July 16.
