Stranger Things Season 4 Teaser Answers That Burning Question

Over the weekend, Netflix dropped the first teaser for Stranger Things season 4, which doesn’t hold back from answering your burning question regarding the season 3 finale. Is Hopper still alive?

You might recall Hopper’s fight with Grigori, the Russian Terminator-like villain who got up close and personal with some turbines before Hopper deactivated the Russian’s gate to the ‘Upside-Down.’ Well, in a shocking turn of events, it looked like Hopper was killed in the resulting blast.

However, the post-credits scene gave us all hope that Hawkins’ chief of police is still alive and kicking. We were given a peek at a Russian prison facility where a concealed and nameless “American” was being held.

Back to the Stranger Things season 4 teaser, there are prison labourers building a railway through the snow, seemingly in the Russian tundras. And who stands up to wipe sweat from his brow and reveal his newly shaven head? None other than Jim Hopper himself.

So yes, wonder no longer. Hopper is alive and barely kicking, how we don’t yet know – all in good time.

It looks like Stranger Things’ creators the Duffer brothers are shaking things up in season 4 by shifting aspects of the show outside of Hawkins, where it had primarily been confined for three seasons – except for the frequent trips to the “Upside Down” and Eleven’s journey of self-discovery in Chicago.

It’s far too early to predict what Stranger Things season 4 will be about. Russians were introduced as a new threat in season 3, taking over from the shadow organisation at the Department of Energy. The show is set in the mid-1980s where the Cold War was in full swing, so having Russian’s hiding out on American soil is very topical for the period. But let’s not forget the Mind Flayer is still out there and will likely show up at some point. Until then, there’s plenty of speculation online to keep you busy ’til the new season drops.

There’s currently no release date for Stranger Things season 4, but it’s a safe bet that we will see the popular Netflix series return later in 2020.
