Netflix’s Most Expensive Movie Ever Finds its ‘Bond Watch’
As far as action movie taglines go, ‘Don’t crack under pressure’ is a pretty good one. Unfortunately for Netflix‘s upcoming blockbuster The Gray Man, however, it was already taken. The most expensive film ever made by the streaming service, the upcoming Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans-led flick is snaking its way towards ‘Bond‘ territory, headlined by espionage, explosions and serious advocacy for black turtlenecks, but now there’s another connection. In a move reminiscent of the iconic spy franchise’s gadget-filled wristwear, The Gray Man has unveiled an official timepiece partner, arriving with the most familiar of faces.

Joining Gosling and Avengers: Endgame filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo for the long-awaited action flick will be Swiss luxury watch brand TAG Heuer. The official watch partner for the upcoming film, TAG Heuer has lent one of its most impressive watches to The Gray Man folklore, not to mention its key ambassador. Throughout the blockbuster, Gosling’s character can be seen sporting a TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands, a sporty watch uniquely qualified for a high-octane adventure. Originally designed to measure high-speed pursuits on the racetrack, the Carrera is renowned for its precision and legibility in challenging situations, which if the trailer is anything to go by, will be due course.
In The Gray Man, Gosling plays master assassin Sierra Six, the CIA’s most skilled operative. However, when he accidentally uncovers a dark agency secret, a psychotic former colleague puts a bounty on his head, setting off a global manhunt of deadly proportions. Part James Bond, part John Wick, the new Netflix film is expected to draw massive viewership and with TAG Heuer ambassador Ryan Gosling in the leading role, you can bet the Swiss icon is licking its lips.
“We are thrilled to partner with Netflix for The Gray Man – not only does it star our very own brand ambassador in the form of Hollywood icon Ryan Gosling, but with a cast that also includes Chris Evans and Regé-Jean Page,” TAG Heuer CEO Frédéric Arnault said. “With the Russo brothers directing, it already is the must-watch movie of 2022. And what else would Gosling’s unflappable Sierra Six wear than a TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands – an iconic timepiece that is designed for those who don’t crack under pressure.”
Specifically, in The Gray Man, Gosling wears two different variations of the TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands. The first is the Ref. WBN2111.FC6505, a 39mm automatic watch that features a silver sunray brushed dial that is complemented by rhodium-plated hands, hour markers, and an applied TAG Heuer shield. The second is the Ref. WBN2111.BA0639, a slightly sportier variation on a stainless steel bracelet. Both models come with the Calibre 5 movement, which is visible through the sapphire case back and arrives with 100m of water resistance.
In addition to the Gosling connection, the new partnership also features work from award-winning photographer Pari Dukovic, who captured a series of stunning images of the Hollywood A-lister dangling precariously from a building edge. According to TAG Heuer, Pari’s unique lens on The Gray Man will form the core of the global campaign, which will run in nearly 80 countries. As for the man at the centre of it, there’s nothing that compares.
“Six is an agent whose life is on the line, every second of the day and he needs a watch that’s got him covered,” Gosling said. “It takes precision and dedication for him to survive, and so it seemed like the perfect fit for him to wear the TAG Heuer Carrera.”
The Gray Man will release in select theatres on 15 July 2022 and will hit Netflix on 22 July. The TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands is out now. You can check out the two Carrera timepieces Ryan Gosling wears in the film, the Ref. WBN2111.FC6505 and the Ref. WBN2111.BA0639 via the link below.
