WATCH: ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 Trailer is Here to Save ‘Star Wars’

The one piece of Disney’s Star Wars output that’s managed to maintain a pretty reliable standard throughout its lifetime – that’s our polite way of saying that it hasn’t been completely ruined by poor planning and unimaginative storytelling – is returning for a third season and we’ve been given a sneak peek via a new teaser trailer. While the team behind The Mandalorian made one hell of a stumble with their dreadful The Book of Boba Fett series, we’re hopeful they’ll have found their feet in time to continue the tale of Mando and Grogu (or Baby Yoda, as he’s more commonly known) before the already-confirmed fourth season lands on Disney+, bringing the story to a satisfying conclusion.

The trailer starts with the show’s now iconic western-tinged main theme before reintroducing Mando and Grogu as “a clan of two.” However, all is not well, as Mando’s willingness to remove his helmet means that he can no longer claim to be a Mandalorian, potentially leaving him vulnerable without the support of his former allies. Some pretty cool action sequences follow, so we’re hopeful this is one of those rare Disney Star Wars outings that genuinely delivers. Saying that, the trailers for Boba Fett made that show look pretty good too.

Nevertheless, it’s clear from the footage here that this season will go at least some way towards making up for the lumbering, clumsy and downright boring action and fighting that was on display throughout Fett. And Mando’s recently acquired ship, the N-1 Naboo starfighter, is an incredibly cool piece of Star Wars hardware, so we’re looking forward to seeing more of that when the show drops.

The Mandalorian Season 3 won’t be arriving on Disney+ until next year and a specific date has yet to be announced, but here’s hoping this season proves a turning point for the whole Star Wars universe. It’d be nice to get some Empire-level adventures on both the big and small screens going forward.
