The Falls Festival is known for its stellar lineups, managing year after year to bring together some of the hottest and coolest acts from the cutting edge of modern music. And this year is no exception.
Behold the incredible lineup coming to Falls in 2019-20: such spectacular stars as Halsey, Vampire Weekend, Lewis Capaldi, Pnau, Peking Duk, Yungblud, Of Monsters and Men, and of course the hottest ticket of all: John Farnham.
Yes. John Farnham.
Well…sure. Why not?
After all, in the twenty-first century nothing is more now than the past: just look at millennials’ enthusiasm for Daryl Braithwaite’s “The Horses”, a passion that has always smelt suspiciously like the cheerleaders pranking Carrie by getting her elected prom queen, but that Daryl himself seems happy enough to profit from.
So why not bring Farnesy to the kids and introduce a whole new generation to classic hits like “You’re The Voice”, “Age of Reason”, and “Sadie the Cleaning Lady”? Not that it’s been confirmed whether John will be busting Sadie out for the Falls crowd, but surely he’d be a fool not to – this generation is absolutely primed for a renaissance in cleaning lady-themed pop.
So big ups to the Falls Festival organisers for recognising that no festival is complete without a baby boomer – Woodstock knew it, and now so do we.
