Samuel L. Jackson is joining the ranks of Helen Mirren, Aaron Sorkin, Martin Scorcese, Shonda Rhimes, and more than 16 others, by offering a master class on the art of film and acting. The nearly ubiquitous actor put together 21 lessons on acting, sharing insights gained over a career that has portrayed over 100 memorable characters in some of cinema history’s biggest franchises.
Before he became an actor, Samuel L. Jackson was a kid looking for a way out. “I made a decision early in my life in that I wasn’t going to live and die in Chattanooga, Tennessee,” explains Jackson in the series preview. Jackson had his own challenges to overcome when it came to acting. As a kid, he had such a severe stutter that he actually stopped speaking for almost a year. In the master class, Jackson teaches how to break down a script, leverage your voice, embody the character, improve their auditions, and collaborate in the industry. “In my MasterClass, I hope students learn that there’s no limit to what they can make-believe. By the end, they’ll be able to walk into a room, present their best self, and be happy with the result,” says Jackson.
