A golf ball is a golf ball, right? As long as it’s the right size and has the dimples, what difference does it make? But there are subtleties that can make the difference in your game. That’s why Titleist has come out with their Pro V1 and Pro V1X golf balls.
According to Titleist, the Pro V1 has a softer feel to it. It also has less iron spin and a more penetrating ball flight, which means that it has a shallower angle of descent that results in more roll. The Pro V1X, however, launches higher than the V1 which increases its carry distance, has a harder feel, and offers more iron spin. Depending on how you play, you will want to choose between the two. Another difference—the Pro V1 is a three-piece ball with 352 dimples while the Pro V1X is a four-piece ball with 328 dimples.
Both balls have a urethane cover, which makes them more durable. The cover also allows the balls to spin on the greens while still giving you plenty of distance off the tee.
So how do you decide which ball is right for you? Titleist explains that, “The decision really boils down to evaluating flight, feel, and spin.” Take both for a spin and see which appeals to your game more.
