One of the world’s most famous (and infamous) whistleblowers, Edward Snowden, has thrust himself back into the public spotlight since last month’s release of his book Permanent Record, self-described as “the book the government doesn’t want you to see”. In 2013, the former CIA contractor who leaked highly classified NSA information about the surveillance programs being run by American spy agencies, raising questions about the ethics and legalities surrounding telecommunications and the public’s rights to privacy. Knowing there might be some considerable opposition to the release, Snowden has taken to the media to get the word out about his book. Today, Snowden sat down for a marathon interview with Joe Rogan to share his story on the JRE podcast.
