Ah, another year, another Black Friday. Well, the second or third one Australians have ever really heard about anyway. Named for the fact that it is the darkest, bleakest day in any US retail worker’s calendar, Black Friday is a tip of the hat to excessive consumer spending, and has literally crushed people to death in previous years.
But who’s gonna let a little … death … get in the way of a new flatscreen, amirite?
What is Black Friday?
Black Friday is basically the start of the silly season shopping madness. Most, if not all, online as well as brick and mortar retailers will offer greater deals than they generally do for regular sales. It’s a great way to get a start on your Christmas shopping and save some big bucks.
When is Black Friday?
Black Friday is usally the last Friday in November. This year, it falls on the 23rd of November with many retailers offering great deals from Friday, all the way through to the end of Monday, known as Cyber Monday.
Much like Hallowe’en, Australia has taken a hallowed American tradition of commercial excess and appropriated it as its own. Whether or not you like to get on board with the Americanization (see what I did there) of the world, and our wide brown land specifically, everybody loves a bargain, and more than just a bargain does a Black Friday sale make. If you can spend money on it, there’s a good chance it’ll be on offer somewhere for a price that’ll have you believe you’re practically making money (and ordering two).
With retailers offering staggering discounts left, right and centre, however, coordinating the best prices from the best stores can be a little bit tricky. Luckily, slaves to the online store and doyens of retail therapy that we are here at Man of Many, we’ve put in all the hard yards to bring you a carefully curated list of the very best places to splash your cash today, to maximise your savings and get some sweet new kit in your swag before Christmas (well, Thanksgiving, but we haven’t adopted that one. Yet.)
Scroll through these amazing deals and avoid the stampede, shoppers… and remember to keep checking back throughout the day as we’ll be updating the list as more deals come in!
