Carhartt WIP FW21 Brings Back the Double Knee for Autumn Flavoured Lookbook

No one blends workwear, streetwear and style quite like Carharrt. The brand returns for its FW2021 lookbook with a host of new pieces and even revisits a number of favourites from back in the day. Arriving with a technical take on workwear heritage with materials that include corduroy, treated canvas, wool and flannel. This collection has all the makings of a classic, and Carharrt went ahead and brought back the double knee work pants with a vintage twist. Legendary.

It’s no streetwear secret, but vintage Carharrt double knee pants have made a huge comeback over the last few months. They’ve become the vintage thrift grail for many rack hunters and if you’re lucky enough to find a pair (especially in Australia) you’re promised a sizeable profit. Looking to cement themselves in the market they created, Carharrt is bringing back the double knee pant. Providing a vintage rendition of the classic as part of their ‘Icons Reworked’ collection.

The collection offers experimental reworkings of the brands most iconic pieces. In this case, the double knee pant is constructed from the iconic and durable 100% organic cotton ‘Dearborn’ canvas. Technical details are added such as tool pockets and triple stitching at vital stress points (a nod to its workwear heritage) and the classic double layer at the knee is seen here in a two-tonal contrasting colour.

We love the Autumn tones of the collection. Our favourite pieces include the aforementioned double knee pants in ‘Unite Camo Black Aged Canvas’ as well as the Charter Pant in ‘Icesheet’. These are another standout pant from the collection with a tailored look and unique garment-dyed hue.

Up top, the OG Arctic Coat returns in ‘Dusty Hamilton-Brown Aged Canvas’. Another piece from the ‘Icons Reworked’ collection is made of the same dearborn canvas materials as found in the double knee. We also love the Prentis Vest Liner in ‘Tawny Leather,’ constructed in a heavyweight polyester pile with a mesh-lined body for added breathability. The contrasting pocket with the logo is a nice touch to remind everyone that this isn’t your run of the mill Patagonia.

The accessories collection is just as strong. With a standout triple cap, as well as the summit key holder, gloves, and last but not least, the Storm Mask in ‘Hamilton Brown’. We reckon it’s only a matter of time before Kanye West is seen wearing one with his latest Yeezy x GAP Round Jacket.

For us Aussie’s we’ll have to wait before we get our hands on a pair of double knees as the FW2021 collection is yet to release downunder. But for our friends Stateside, you can pickup a number of items from the Carharrt Fall Winter 2021 collection now via the link down below.
