FENDI Men’s Spring/Summer 2022 Collection is a Hyper-Colour Escape From Reality

Best known for its winter fits, FENDI is taken a red-hot approach to Spring/Summer this year. Silvia Venturini Fendi, artistic director of FENDI accessories and menswear says the Spring/Summer 2022 FENDI Men’s collection is inspired by the marriage of nature and architecture, with inspiration taken from the very heart FENDI HQ, the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana.

FENDI’s new collection uses a subtle palette of lemon, lime, ice blue, lavender and pistachio that echoes spring flora and the transient skies. With a focus on prints, shapes and workmanship, FENDI’s latest collection plays with proportions and scale. As abstract contoured motifs float across the collection in the form of linen silk suiting, jacquard denim, plush crochet tees and intarsia shearling.

According to FENDI, new tailoring volumes are created through the disfigurement of scale. The label has crafted a hybrid summer suiting combination using a profusion of materials, shapes and utility details. The collection includes wool jackets that are cropped at the torso and or split with nylon organza, peak lapel linen blazers are fitted with pen pockets and ear pods compartments as pockets are dropped beneath hemlines and jackets unbutton down the hips. With multi-pocket city shorts and straight trousers that are split at the ankle and or panelled in a binary of double cotton and suede.

The new collection also includes outerwear that champions the FENDI leather ateliers. With a selection of vented trench coats, roomy windcheaters and overshirts punctuated by Selleriastitching and embossed detailing on reversible suede, calfskin and sustainable garment-dyed cotton. Shirts are crafted in crisp poplin and or light woven cashmere that features fabric buttons for a monochrome tonality followed by a series of collaged fabrications featuring mismatched jacquard collars and striped cotton sleeves. Knits are engineered in featherweight cashmere intarsia ensembles alongside zipped two-tone double cashmere and polo tops in ribbed or crochet cotton. Mock neck pullovers and tees are crafted in crochet mink.

This playful escape from reality also extends to the realm of accessories and footwear. As ping-pong racket bags, roomy messengers, perspex clutches and luggage shapes in canvas and printed FF logos are joined with evolved FENDI Flow sneakers, buckled sandals, monochrome slip-on knit sneakers and soft suede desert boots with FF logo buckles.
