Even if you haven’t heard of J Balvin, you’ve definitely heard his music. The last 18 months have been a whirlwind for the Colombian hip-hop artist, spending 14 consecutive weeks in the #1 position on YouTube Music’s Global Artist chart, topped off with a surprise performance an the Super Bowl XIV halftime show. But now Balvin has added another string to his 2020 bow. Following up on the success of the Vibras collection, J Balvin is once again collaborating with fashion icon GUESS for Colores, an experimental capsule collection inspired by his latest album.
With Colores, J Balvin has taken control of the creative and design process, incorporating vibrant red, yellow, green, blue and purple tones into each piece. The GUESS x J Balvin campaign was shot in his home town of Medelli?n, Colombia, and also featured models Jamea Byrd and Sara Orrego.
“It provided wonderful creative inspiration to envision a new album and corresponding new fashion collection together from the beginning – both connected to how I’ve been exploring new music through a lens of individual colours,” Balvin said. “It has also been very exciting to shoot the GUESS x J Balvin Colores campaign in the city where everything started for me – to have this huge global campaign with GUESS, spotlight the vibrancy of the people and culture of Medelli?n. It is another opportunity to show the world how beautiful and amazing Colombia is, and the surging artistic vibes throughout the city and country.”
The new GUESS x J Balvin Colores capsule collection kicks off at a series of live pop-up events across Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami and New York ahead of the official launch on March 20.
