The iconic Levi’s Trucker Jacket has scored an upgrade with Google technology built into the denim for an expanding toolkit of abilities accessible by simple gestures. The aim is to keep people connected to the digital world while keeping their focus on what’s ahead. That can be taken as a literal explanation or a metaphor. It’s up to you.
Jacquard by Google is a small tag on the cuff that’s smaller than a stick of gum. With a few simple hand gestures, wearers can skip songs by swiping the sleeve, access navigation audio cues, ride share apps, weather and traffic reports, messaging and more. Jacquard is regularly receiving new features meaning Levi’s Trucker will only get more advanced with age.
Both Levi’s Classic Trucker and Sherpa Trucker styles are scoring the Google technology with Levi’s looking to enhance everyday user experiences. You can even assign different abilities to different actions and alerts.
What they can do
Your day: Ask Google Assistant to get real-time updates on sports, news or weather. Or hear a summary of your day.
Always connected: Receive an alert if you leave your phone or jacket behind.
Camera: Trigger photos remotely or from a distance with a simple gesture.
Music: Play, pause and skip or hear the title of the current track.
Navigation: Hear the next direction or check your estimated time of arrival.
Phone and messaging: Stay connected for important calls and texts.
“Two years after we first launched Jacquard – the technology has become smaller and more discrete, more affordable and more useful,” said Paul Dillinger, VP of Global Product Innovation at Levi Strauss and Co.
“The premise and purpose remain the same: you can keep your phone in your pocket and your eyes on the world around you, staying connected without being distracted.”
The Levi’s Trucker and Sherpa Trucker jackets with Jacquard by Google are available now both online and instore through Levi’s and Myer.
