Levi’s and Netflix have teamed up to launch a clothing collection inspired by everyone’s favourite 80’s throwback Stranger Things to coincide with season three which began streaming July 4 – American Independence Day.
The limited edition clothing range was created together with the Stranger Things wardrobe team who leveraged Levi’s extensive archives to design some street style that looks like it was pulled straight from 1985, the setting for Stranger Things season 3.
Coupled with the tagline ‘Strange Looks Good on You’, the Levi’s x Stranger Things Collection includes authentically replicated clothing modelled on two fan-favourites Eleven and Dustin. Think vintage-inspired tees and sweatshirts, new denim and archival fits.
Standout pieces include a denim trucker jacket with images of the series’ characters, Eleven’s Aztec-printed shirt and a lightning tee with the Levi’s logo presented in the Stranger Things font. There are also tees, hoodies and trucker hats printed with “Camp Know Where,” the science camp that Dustin attended for a month before returning with a supposed long-distance girlfriend.
The exclusive Levi’s x Stranger Things Collection is available now at Levis stores, online, Surfstitch and General Pants Co.
The official launch party took place on Thursday, July 4 at the newly revamped Geddes Lane Ballroom in Melbourne. The space was transformed into a one-of-a-kind Stranger Things ‘alternate dimension,’ reminiscent of ‘the Upside Down’ and featured a recreation of the Byers’ living room, The Starcourt Mall newly introduced in season 3 and The Palace Arcade.
The music set the tone of the event with live performances by Luke Million, I Know Leopard and Genesis Owusu. There was a Mortal Kombat arcade machine within The Palace Arcade, which wasn’t entirely accurate, as that gory franchise didn’t debut until 1992. Although we’ve never even seen a Dragon’s Lair arcade machine in person, and Mortal Kombat is arguably a better game anyway.
