Yesterday afternoon Sydney turned it all the way up to 11 and delivered perfect weather for THE ICONIC’s annual swim show. After last year’s floating runway with the Opera House and Harbour Bridge in the background, we thought it couldn’t get any better, but we thought wrong. This year, the swim show took place on the foreshores of the beautiful Barangaroo Reserve and welcomed the most body-positive swimwear runway show in the world and it was beyond amazing. In fact, it is exactly what everyone needs to see right now.
The ICONIC liberated the runway with models from all different shapes, sizes, backgrounds and even ages. We saw this season’s hottest new swimwear trends come to life on 40 models ranging from a size 8 to 18. The online retail giant further announced the launch of their Big & Tall assortment for men with the world’s first plus-size male model, Zach Miko.
Dubbed “Endless Summer”, the runway featured more than 50 local and international designers including Tommy Hilfiger, Ray-Ban, Birkenstock, Calvin Klein, Seafolly, Hurley and Michael Kors Swim to name a few. Below is a breakdown, directly from the style team at THE ICONIC, of the top beach and poolside looks that will be dominating our shores this season.
Beach to Street: Blurring the lines between swim and activewear, this trend is all about creating an urban warrior-like look, with wearable beach styles to take you from shoreside to the street.
Join Our Club: Think youth club cool this season with high cut swimwear pieces in strong prints and daring colour clashes. This trend is all about creating bold beachwear looks.
Hyper Tropical: This season forget pretty pastel shades, it’s all about a neon and fluro print for bright technicolour swimwear that makes a statement poolside. This unwavering colour in a rainbow of hues brings an unexpected boldness to swimwear.
Animal: Animal prints and vintage-inspired bandeau bikinis are taken to a new level this summer. Chunky accessories juxtapose this vintage vibe.
Into the Blue: Deep dive into summer this season in a whole ocean of shades from bright aquas and deep navy blues.
