NEIGHBORHOOD has grown from a small shop in the backstreets of Harajuku to a staple collaborator on a global scale. Whether they’re working with the likes of Adidas, Converse, BAPE, Vans or VLONE, the brand instils its unique aesthetic in every collection. In its latest collaboration with Dr. Martens, we’re delivered a clean silhouette short of any traditional text motifs as seen on the preceding projects – let’s check them out.

Style: Dr Martens 1461, 2976
Release Date: 4th December 2021
Retail Price: AU$450 est.

Founded in 1994 by Shinsuke Takizawa, the brand is inspired by cultural movements and eras rather than industry dictated seasons, whether it’s epitomising the influence of London’s punk culture, channelling New York’s hip-hop scene or exploring the relationship with Japan’s rebellious youth tribes, NEIGHBORHOOD is one of the premier brand collaborators globally.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Dr Martens and NEIGHBORHOOD join forces to re-energise the classic 1461 and 2976, however, it might be one of our favourites. As is the case with all Dr Marten collabs, the shoes set themselves apart from those you typically find on the shelf at your local sneakers store as they’re expertly hand-crafted in the Wollaston factory.

In terms of construction, the sneakers feature the classic smooth leather and find a signature NEIGHBORHOOD blacked-out aesthetic with contrast white details. The trademark yellow welt-stitch has been re-tuned to match NEIGHBORHOOD white screen-printed artwork. Paint splatter is evident all over the upper of the shoe reflecting the rebellious attitude of NEIGHBORHOOD, and the shoe is finished with a tech-inspired dual-branded reflective heel strip.

You can pick up these classic silhouettes from Saturday 4th of December, available via the link below at Dr Martens UK online, as well as physical locations in Australia such as Highs and Lows, Supply Store and DoubleDouble Store.
