Designed by one of the most famous sneakerheads on the planet, Sean Wotherspoon has confirmed to the world that adidas will be adding LEGO to its ZX-8000 limited-edition shoe line. With several iterations already announced by Wotherspoon, this latest collaboration is another nod to the power of sneaker culture.
“In 1984, adidas changed the world of footwear forever with the ZX series. Now in 2020, adidas originals and the LEGO Group come together as part of the relaunched A-ZX series. L is for LEGO* play. You’re never too old to play.”
The new kicks scream LEGO from top to bottom like a child in the toy section of Kmart. First revealed on September 3, the official LEGO YouTube channel goes all out for the shoes’ preview. Decked out in its own LEGO- brick inspired shoebox, with the classic blue and white adidas colors, this limited-edition sneaker is everything you love about both companies.
“Kicked off in 2008, the A-ZX series returns this year. 26 unique drops from A to Z celebrate the heritage and future of the ZX ‘000 series. Each one is shaped by worldwide collaborations or icons from the adidas archive: one letter, one drop. Guess which letter is next?”
Delivering on the creativity, playfulness and nostalgia that is LEGO from the heel to the lace lock, there is a lot to love about this bold new edition to the A-ZX series. First introduced in 1984, these shoes harken back to an era when RUN-DMC would get entire crowds singing My adidas. Fast forward to 2020, and the same show that “changed the world of footwear forever” is returning to do it all over again.
Releasing on September 25 for US$130, you better get your pre-orders sorted, because these are gonna go quick.
