While the limelight has been shining bright on the New Balance 550, smaller models in the brand’s lineup haven’t been given the same star-studded treatment. The BB480 reintroduces itself as the first New Balance basketball shoe, ever. First debuting in 1983 the BB480 is a retro silhouette that features a soft leather upper, New Balance logo on the lateral and medial sides, and detailing on the tongue that’s both minimalist and clean – a key feature of vintage retro models. The outsole is most commonly matched to the colourway of the shoe or presented in a clean ‘gum’ finish.
We first saw the retro model hit retailers in Japan, but they’re widely available today. Sneaker News #41 – Billie Eilish’s Air Jordan Silhouette, however, none is cleaner than the general release BB480 that retails at a very reasonable AU$140.
