New Balance FuelCell Helps Runners Find Their Fast
New Balance has developed a new foam platform for its running shoes called FuelCell, which is designed to help power up your run. New Balance looked at everything in minute detail including form, shape, efficiency and custom fit. By addressing every aspect in its latest range of running shoes, the sports brand believes it can make athletes run faster.
There are four FuelCell footwear styles, catering to different types of running. The details of each shoe gets quite technical.
FuelCell 5280: features the highest rebound properties of any New Balance performance foam. The foam itself is a multidirectional carbon fibre plate designed to flex and accept the runner at initial contact and stiffen for superior propulsion at toe-off. The lightweight and highly functional Hypoknit upper allows for a high level of support where needed.
FuelCell Rebel: made for runners who are ready to take their run to the next level, with energy return optimised for speed when needed. This model features FuelCell technology in the forefoot to create a high-rebound but lightweight running experience. Inspired by learnings from Team New Balance’s fastest road racing athletes, the outsole features a distinct traction pattern designed for midfoot to forefoot strikers. The upper provides a lightweight but secure fit with a breathable jacquard base layer and the New Balance Trace Fibre through the midfoot for security.
FuelCell Propel: for everyday energy return. New Balance says this shoe is “speed democratised.” Propel is built for a speedy ride, using a high rebound FuelCell midsole foam that delivers a unique underfoot liveliness and springy responsiveness that is needed to help runners beat their personal best. Designed with a comfortable Trace Fibre upper for zonal support and a lightweight solid rubber outsole, this fast and fashionable runner is fit for wherever the route leads.
FuelCell Echo: fast and stylish, with a lower, more streamlined profile for runners that want to be quick on their feet. Designed with a TPU heel counter for performance lockdown, this road runner sits above a supportive, full-length FuelCell midsole that provides the best in New Balance performance foam and energy return.
The New Balance FuelCell line is available now and ranges in price from $150 to $200 per pair.
