Nike has just released its new Air Vapormax shoe for 2019 which has received several improvements based on feedback from everyday athletes. Nike travelled to Paris, London and Milan to talk to athletes who wore the previous VaporMax design. The general consensus was that the footwear nailed the consistency of ride and shock absorption thanks to the Air unit, but needed more structure and support in the upper.
So Nike reworked the VaporMax design, testing it in cold and warm weather and on walkers and runners to ensure it would feel great for anyone who logs about 32 km a week or any humble pedestrian who likes wearing a pair of Nike’s all day long.
Air VaporMax 2019 has a new upper that uses Nexkin, stretch-woven material that’s lightweight, breathable and conforms to the foot. It also provides more structure and is more durable and weather-ready than Flyknit. A new internal cage wraps the midfoot, hugging the arch to provide support and lockdown. The heel is bigger and higher, which means more support for all-day wear. The TPU coating also gives the Air bag a new colour shifting aesthetic. It looks opaque but becomes transparent when held up to light.
What’s unchanged is the fact that VaporMax remains the most flexible and lightest Nike Air Max thanks to the segmented Air sole which runs full-length underfoot to provide consistent cushioning for walking or running. The Nike Air VaporMax 2019 is available now in Australia in both men’s and women’s sizes. You can grab a pair for $270 AUD.
