TUMI Teams with McLaren for Performance Luxury Luggage Line

With the end of travel restrictions on the horizon, you’ll want a set of luggage that can move fast when you’re ready to start going places again. Fortunately, lifestyle brand TUMI has a premium travel collection that fits the bill thanks to their collaboration with supercar maker McLaren. The new TUMI x McLaren Luggage set is inspired by the automaker’s F1 team.

“For me, this is the ultimate collaboration as TUMI and McLaren have an innate synergy,” states TUMI’s creative director Victor Sanz. “We’re two like-minded brands who share the same values—unparalleled quality, technical innovation, and design excellence.”

TUMI and McLaren first announced their partnership in 2019, and now we’re beginning to see what that partnership looks like. The new luggage set consists of nine pieces, each done in McLaren Papaya colourways accented by CFX carbon-fibre pieces. In other words, the luggage is a perfect match for the British company’s F1 team. The collection starts with a 4-wheel carry on that features Tegris, a thermoplastic composite that is also a component in race cars. The inside of the carry on boasts a compression strap that mirrors the six-point harness in McLaren’s race cars. The “Velocity Backpack” has a USB port built-in and a laptop compartment.

“At McLaren, we focus on articulating a clear design language and materials selection which combines and leads into our car’s performance,” says Rob Melville, who is McLaren’s design director. “We wanted to capture those aspects with TUMI so we’ve spent a great deal of time working to analyze and refine every aspect of this collection.” You’ll appreciate that attention to detail when you get back to travelling. “With McLaren’s advanced technology and our top-of-the-line materials,” adds Sanz, “our gear can tackle the most arduous excursions and still effortlessly translate into daily life.”
