Audemars Piguet Finally Updates Royal Oak Offshore
It says a lot about a product when it can go for nearly a dozen years without getting some sort of an update. Such is the case for the 42mm Royal Oak Offshore models from Audemars Piguet. The iconic watch hasn’t had an update since 2010 because, well, it just hasn’t needed it. But nearly 12 years on, and Audemars has decided to address that with the release of five new Royal Oak Offshore watches, each of which include the new self-winding chronograph.

The first update to take note of is the new 43mm version. This version boasts polished chamfers that you’ll be hard-pressed to miss as well as new curves for the screwed-down crown and chronograph pushers. There’s also a glare-proof sapphire crystal. You can also take advantage of the quick-release system to swap out the straps, which come in black, blue, gray, and brown. The dial has also had some work done to make it more legible and to update the logo. The 43mm version come sin 18-karat pink gold, titanium, or stainless steel for $56,000, $36,200, and $37,500 respectively.
The 42mm models are a bit sportier. Two of these watches feature the Mega Tapisserie dials. The titanium model has a green dial with matching textured rubber strap or a blue dial with black and orange accents on a blue strap. Both sell for $33,400. The remaining watches come in stainless steel, titanium, or pink gold, just like the 43, but here the stainless steel and titanium cost $37,500 and the pink gold runs $76,000.
All five of the new watches feature the new self-winding caliber 4404 with an integrated chronograph. The flyback function lets you start, stop, and reset with just one function. The watches also feature 70 hours of power reserve and a column-wheel flyback chronograph with a vertical clutch. If you’re going to make an improvement after a decade of success, do it right, and that’s exactly what Audemars Piguet has done with the Royal Oak Offshore.
