On the 20th anniversary of its original pink gold-toned “Petite Tapisserie” dial, Audemars Piguet unveiled a limited edition follow-up at SIHH 2019. And when we say “limited edition,” we’re talking just 75 units dispersed across 50 boutiques. Representing a brand first, the new Royal Oak “Jumbo” Ultra-Thin (Ref. 15202BC) pairs the distinctive dial with an 18-carat white gold case and bracelet. That’s joined by Royal Oak hands with luminescent coating. The watch comes in at 39mm from side to side and just 8mm thick, making it as slim in feel as it is warm in vibe. Needless to say, it will likely sell out fast and be much harder to find soon after.
While Audemars Piguet describes the dial as pink gold-toned, some folks prefer the word “salmon.” Whatever you want to call it, there’s pretty much no mistaking this “Petite Tapisserie” dial for anything else. After being introduced in 1992 on the Royal Oak Jubilee, it was sparingly revived over the following years, though never with an 18-carat white gold case and bracelet.
Powering the watch is in-house self-winding Manufacture Calibre 2121, which consists of 247 parts, and delivers a 40-hour power reserve. In addition to minutes and hours, the watch displays an elegant date function on the dial. Should you be in the market for an instant collectible, you’ll want to track this one down at the nearest boutique ASAP.
