Richemont, the company behind Montblanc, IWC, Mr Porter and stacks of your other favourite brands is expanding its portfolio to include a new watch brand that builds sophisticated timepieces from sustainable, recycled and upcycled materials.
Baume launched with two collections: The Iconic is the flagship series, featuring a minimalist design with automatic movement crafted from aluminium with a 100% recycled PET bracelet. The Iconic Series is available in a variety of designs and colours. This collection will be updated seasonally.
The second collection is a fully customisable offering, designed through an online configuration tool with over 2000 possible creations. Buyers choose a 35mm or 41mm case size, components, and movement. There’s a wealth of individuality at play within the Baume aesthetic. The idea behind the customisable series is that co-creation pushes consumers to ask questions about everyday choices, including a commitment to a better environmental future.
Talking about their sustainable approach to timekeeping, Baume Brand leader Marie Chassot says “our on-demand production eliminates waste and avoids the creation of obsolete stock. Our interchangeable watchstraps are made from natural, upcycled or recycled fabrics such as cork, cotton, linen, Alcantara and recycled PET. Packaging is kept to a minimum: there is no secondary packaging, and only FSC-certified paper and cardboard are used.”
Baume watches are available now from the official website with prices starting at USD $560. A third limited edition series will follow later this year.
