In today’s “cool” news, Casio has introduced a new collection of G-Shock watches, which take inspiration from freezing glaciers. Touting clear, semi-transparent bezels and bands, along with gold accents, the G-Shock Glacier Gold Collection combines the line’s signature toughness and inherent functionality with unmistakable design. It’s all in honour of G-Shock’s 35th Anniversary, hence the golden touch (and signature engraving on the back).
The new Casio G-Shock Glacier Gold Collection consists of four new models: the DW-5035E, DW-5735E, GA-735E, and GA-835E. Each one employs transparent resin, paying homage to not just epic glaciers, but also previous models like the iconic Dolphin & Whale. Structurally, meanwhile, the case designs in the new range are based upon the DW-5000, DW-5700, GA-170, and the GA-810, respectively. On the back plate of each new watch is a 35th Anniversary engraving, providing a subtle reminder of the special occasion. It’s also worth noting that the DW-5035 and DW-5735E offer a little more heft by way of a screw back.
Being that these are G-Shock watches, one can naturally expect brand mainstays like durable construction, shock resistance, water resistance to 200m, a bevy of built-in functions (stopwatch, alarm, etc), and an affordable price tag. They’re expected to drop this month, meaning it’s only a matter of time before you can get your glacier on.
