G-Shock watches are built to be tough and durable. The new G-Shock Aged IP Full Metal watch has the looks to match that build. Using an ion-plating treatment, G-Shock gives the watch a vintage, worn-in look that mimics a history of tough use.
Titled GMWB5000V, the Aged IP has a DLC coated case back for extra protection against scratches. The LCD screen can be lit up using their Super Illuminator function. A resin cushion separates the stainless steel case and the bezel for improved shock resistance, yet the watch maintains the structure of G-Shock watches.
The module itself is also enclosed in a protective casing. The buttons are also stronger, with internal pipes to guard the vulnerable button shafts against lateral shocks. Even the band is reinforced, using a three-prong system for increased connection strength. Functions for the watch include world time, stopwatch, alarm, and radio-controlled time synchronisation. The watch also features Bluetooth connectivity that can be used to connect to the G-Shock app, which can be used to control time setting and adjustments.
The Aged IP is expected to arrive at retailers in June, and will have a USD$1,000 price tag.
