Hender Scheme has partnered with Casio’s G-Shock to create a version of the popular DW-5600 watch model that brings together both luxury and minimalism.
Hender Scheme is a well known Japanese leather artisan. Their role in the project was the leather band, as one might expect. However, they also created the designed the watch as well. Hand sewn, the band was vegetable tanned. It’s unique color was achieved using a treatment known as “pit tanning.” As the band is used, it will gradually age, giving it even more character. It also comes with a matching resin band, which is standard for the G-Shock.
The watch itself is a worthy investment. The DW-5600 is shock resistant, water proof up to 20 meters, and features an inbuilt stopwatch, full calendar, and backlight display.
Even without the leather band, the watch is attractive and will look good with any outfit you’re wearing. Adding in the leather band steps up the look, giving it a hint of luxury while still maintaining the minimalistic virtues of the G-Shock watch. The Hender Scheme X G-Shock will be available through END.
